This week has seen the final signature placed on the Same-Sex Marriage bill by the Governor General in Australia, making it possible for same sex couples to marry legally from 9 December. However, legitimately, any couples wishing to tie the knot must give their wedding celebrant a period of one month, under the existing marriage laws, to file a Notice of intended Marriage, which means that the very first, same-sex weddings can take place from 9 January 2018.
